What is GEO?

GEO stands for Generative Engine Optimization and is the new evolution of SEO (Search Engine Optimization).

It is the strategy where you optimize your website and content to not only rank high in traditional search results, but especially to be cited as the official source in the directly generated answers from AI tools and Large Language Models (LLMs), such as Google's AI Overviews and ChatGPT.

Citations in AI overviews of responses that arise from, for example, ChatGPT are very valuable. Especially when someone is looking for a solution where your product or service can be the right match. This way, you gain more brand awareness and add a new marketing channel to your strategy.

The goal of GEO shifts from traditional rankings to achieving authority (E-E-A-T), so that your brand is cited as a reliable source.
